My dear George
I write wishing you "many happy returns of your birthday". I dare
say you have been expecting a note from me for some time, but I
have had no news to tell you so did not think it worth while.
Father came to see me last Wednesday week but did not stay long as
he had been to Uncle John"s sale and was going to Harleston.
I have had my ears pierced since I saw you last but they are not
quite well yet, so I cannot wear my new earrings at present.
Miss W. has 21 boarders, so we have got a very good school, one
new young lady from Cratfield, Miss E. Woolnough.
Now dear George I must conclude, with much love
Believe me
Your affectate Sister
Ellen
