The Sustainability Centre is ideally situated in the Hampshire South Downs National Park, right on the South Downs National Trail so we also welcome walkers, cyclists and families. It is also very convenient for Portsmouth and its cross-Channel ferry services. Whatever your reason for visiting this beautiful part of Hampshire, a warm welcome is guaranteed!

The House:
Wetherdown Lodge Friends of Nature House is situated on top of the South Downs National Park and benefits from some of the best views in Hampshire. Our low cost accommodation is ideal for individuals and groups attending courses at the centre, or as a base to explore our beautiful countryside.

Opening hours:
Staff are generally (but not always) available at the following times:


Summer Hours (1st April - 31st October):
8.30am-7pm (9am-5pm on Sundays)

Winter Hours (1st November - 31st March):
9am-5pm.

Check in after 4pm. Check out by 10.00am.

The facilities include:
  • 14 bedrooms accommodating up to 38 people.
  • Twin and triple bunk rooms with hand basins.
  • All linen, duvets and towels provided.
  • Help yourself breakfast included,
    (cereals, toast, fruit, tea and coffee).
  • A newly refurbished self-catering kitchen
    for guests use.
  • Shared showers and toilets - 3 upstairs and 3 downstairs.
  • Secure cycle shed.
  • You can pre-order evening meals and packed lunches from the Beech Café. Tuesday-Sunday.

Single room £33 per person (single occupancy - aged 18+) per night
Twin/triple room £22 per person per night
Additional children (under 17yrs) cost £12.50 per night
Under 2's booked into our Famly Room cost £5 per night

All prices include bed linen, towel and a "help yourself" breakfast
of cereal, fresh fruit, toast and drinks.

For large groups we offer exclusive use booking of the lodge at £700 per night.

Campsite facilities
There are 2 composting toilets by the campsite, and a solar shower block with 3 showers and 2 sinks for washing up. We have a clay pizza oven and BBQ available to use on first-come first served basis or you can bring your own BBQ or gas stoves must please make sure it is kept off the ground.

Camping per night is £12.00 per person per night (18yrs+)
and £7.00 per child per night (2-17yrs). Children under 2yrs free.

Tipis and Yurts
We have two Large Yurts and a Mini Yurt available to hire. The Large Yurts have beds for 4 people, but can sleep up to 6 people if you bring extra beds. 'Olive' Yurt has 2 double futon sofa beds and 'Rose Yurt' has a double futon, a single futon and a single mattress. The Mini Yurt sleeps 2 adults and has one double futon. You will need to bring your own bedding. You also need to bring your own camping stove and cooking utensils etc as these are not provided. All yurts have a wood-burner fire and basic furniture, including dining table. We sell bags of firewood for £6/bag.

The cost for all Yurts is is £35 per adult per night and £12.50 per additional child (2-17yrs) per night. Children under 2yrs are free. There is a minimum charge of £66 for 2 adults (or one adult + up to 2 children) per night. Please note that there is also a 2 night minimum booking for all yurts booked at weekends.

We have a small Tipi which sleeps up to 5 people. The cost is £22 per adult (18+) per night and children (2-17yrs) are £10 per night, with a minimum charge of £44 for 2 adults up to 2 children) per night. It has a wood chip floor so you will need to bring sleeping mats and plenty of warm bedding.
